what if your life
led sideways?
not in circles. not off course. just… somewhere you didn’t expect — but maybe exactly where you were meant to land.

about the book
just a little buzzed is a memoir about the in-between moments — when you’re no longer who you were and not yet who you’re becoming. it’s not a survival story. it’s a reclamation. not a how-to, not a TED talk.
just a reminder to stay soft in a world that keeps trying to harden you. there are no tidy chapters, no neat little lessons tied in bows — just a life, jagged, tender, beautiful. told the way it actually unfolds: disjointed, surprising, a little out of breath.
about the author
taira works at the intersection of dance, design, and storytelling — and refuses to choose just one. she’s drawn to fractured timelines, unfinished edges, and the kind of details you only catch when you’re paying odd attention. she writes the way she talks — sideways, trusting every detour to land exactly where it should.
off the page, she brings a dancer’s discipline and a designer’s eye to helping brands and artists find their voice. she keeps a list of sentences she wishes she’d written, and leaves one thing imperfect on purpose. she is the founder of split & type, a story studio for nonlinear narratives and unconventional voices. just a little buzzed is her first book — part confession, part detour map.
split & type is the creative imprint behind just a little buzzed — and the starting point for stories that resist tidy endings. it’s a home for winding narratives, sharp turns, and voices that make their own rules.
built for work that lingers in your head long after the last page, split & type exists for the stories that won’t let go.
